So, I saw so many people talking online about using chatbots and how they drove so much traffic to their blogs and offers and how they made loads of money and I decided to give it a try…
And this is exactly what happened…
I followed a couple of courses I saw online, and thought to give it a try and see how it goes for me. Well, it didn’t work. Here’s what I did:
- I signed up to ManyChat
- I created a bot that allows you to get messenger subscribers as soon as they comment on your post
- I set up the welcome message and the opt-in message
- I ran an ad on Facebook
I ran the ad to drive traffic to one of the pages on this blog. It was a Facebook post engagement ad. I had a great image for the ad, so a lot of people shared and liked the post, but all I got was one big fat subscriber to my messenger list.
Here are 2 reasons why I think it didn’t work:
- The targeting on Facebook was not correct, or
- The niche it too competitive or too serious for people to engage – after all, people come on Facebook to be entertained; not really to be sold to…
I am not sure exactly. I don’t think it was the ad copy or the image because it did indeed get a lot of engagement. But that’s not what I was going for. I was looking for subscribers.
Moral of the story? People who promote chatbot courses are scammers. Hahahah nah I’m kidding of course. Moral of the story is that I will change my targeting and test some more. Maybe I will try different niches if I need to.
Again, I have only tried one type of growth tool (type of chatbot), so maybe this was not t he right option for this kind of ad. I will keep testing till I get it right.
I just wanted to share this because part of the reason of having this blog is to share what works as well as what doesn’t.
Come back soon and check again, I might hit jackpot next time!
Do you use chatbots? How has your experience been so far?
Nice honest post Hooda you are not alone my online soldier i myself had an epic fail with chatbot ad on FB..
Probably the targeting like you said.
I will change up the targeting and see if the results dont change in a positive direction.
If at first you dont succeed try try again.
Ill get it down it will just take a little trial and error on my part.
Anyhow, nice honest post …
I am sure you will nail it out of the park next time.

Hey Jay! Yeah we will nail it eventually haha! Thanks for the comment!
